The Invertebrate Fauna of Jan Mayen Island (East Greenland)

Abstract

7 communities of soil mites and collembolans are recognized largely by means of differential or indicator spp. Weekly samples at 1 station indicated that fauna did not change significantly during 5-week period of study. A close correspondence exists between faunal and floral groupings. Altogether 163 spp. of nematodes, collembolans, mites, aphids, hymenopterans, and dipterans are reported new to isl. and 18 spp. new to science.
