Abstract
Thirty cases showed a preponderance of white males affected. Average age was 36.6 years and average duration of tuberculosis to appearance of amyloidosis was 4.6 years. Albuminuria and hepatomegaly were almost always present. Faulty hepatic function tests, especially diminished cholesterol esterification, were frequent. Three uremic deaths were noted, and renal function was impaired in the majority of cases, but "nephrosls" was rare. Prognosis has improved along with the modern treatment of tuberculosis. Two cases of regression of amyloidosis are reported. Keywords
