Each serotype of syngen 4 of Paramecium aurelia has a specific serotype-correlated antigen (antigen 4) measurable by gel diffusion. These antigens are the well known immobilization antigens studied by earlier workers. They may be assayed quantitatively by an absorption technique and also by specific precipitation in gel.
