High Speed Automatic Infra-Red Spectrometer

Abstract
A rocksalt, vacuum, double monochromator is described that displays the entire spectrum out to 15μ (or selected portions thereof at higher resolution) in one minute on a long‐persistence oscilloscope screen. It measures percent transmission directly, automatically correcting for source‐intensity distribution and spectrometer losses. Special arrangements permit rapid preparation of samples for analysis. Reflection measurements and direct comparison of two emission sources can also be made.
