Abstract
The techniques of nuclear orientation and nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei were applied to Ir188 after recoil implantation into Fe and Ni. Combining the results of nuclear orientation and nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei, which are sensitive to the magnetic moment and the g factor, respectively, the spin of Ir188 was determined to be I=1, in contradiction to I=2 adopted previously. In addition, the splitting of the nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei resonance into two subresonances due to quadrupole interaction was observed, which proves again I=1.
