This case is being reported because of the paucity of information on myocardial infarction in pregnancy. No reference to acute myocardial infarction during pregnancy can be found in such standard textbooks as Eastman,1Greenhill,2Beck,3and others.4Moreover, only one cardiology reference book was noted to mention the subject. Levine5states that he had treated one woman, aged 22, for myocardial infarction and that subsequently she had gone through a pregnancy. A search of current literature revealed no account of the conduct of pregnancy during or immediately following myocardial infarction. Therefore, it seems likely that the analysis of this case may help others in managing similar cases and serve to stimulate additional reports on the same subject.
