Abstract
Pulse-labeled RNA, complementary to adenovirus type 2 DNA, is found in cytoplasmic polyribosomes starting between 6 and 12 hr. after infection, reaching a maximum at about 18 hr. Polyribosomes heavily loaded with adenovirus-specific RNA actively incorporate amino acids. These data indicate that some, if not all, adenovirus-coded proteins are made in the cytoplasm, thus extending the generality of cytoplasmic protein synthesis to "nuclear" DNA viruses.
