Increased Metabolism in Fat-Deficiency: Relation to Dietary Fat.

Abstract
The disturbance in energy metabolism in rats on a fat-free diet, as indicated by increased BMR and growth retardation, was prevented by daily supplementation with 100 mg methyl linoleate or 200 mg cottonseed oil. Similar addition of a saturated fatty acid (100 mg methyl palmitate) in no way modified the development of the fat-deficiency syndrome.
