Liquid-membrane ion-selective electrode using nicotinate

Abstract
Three different kinds of membrane electrode for determination of the nicotinate ion were prepared, assembled and investigated. The liquid-membrane electrode based on an anion exchanger (trimethylcetylammonium nicotinate) gave better performance and results than those with a solid membrane (copper nicotinate as sensor) or another liquid-membrane electrode (molten cetyl nicotinate as sensor), being more rapid, reproducible and selective.
