To the Editor: For the past two years, I have used alpha-tocopherol succinate, 400 IU four times daily, for patients suffering from ischemic heart disease. This has been a double-blind study of 22 men, 11 on placebos and 11 on vitamin E. Their ages ranged from 61 to 73 years. All had severe angina pectoris, and some had had a preceding coronary occlusion. None were suitable for a bypass procedure. All patients were observed for three months before study.
