NORMAL NASOPHARYNGEAL SOFT TISSUE IN ADULTS

Abstract
A detailed statistical analysis of the amount of nasopharyngeal soft tissue in adults has been performed. While there is a significant variation with age, sex, and the shape of the base of the skull, the variability among individuals at any age is so great that little practical use can be made of such measurements unless the increase in amount of soft tissue is considerable. Probably of greater diagnostic value is change in the normal smooth concave contour of these soft tissue outlines.
