AN "INSTANTANEOUS" DISPLAY LINEAR ACCELERATOR FIELD FLATNESS MONITOR

Abstract
A beam flatness monitor is described which consists of 16 ion chambers and amplifiers, the outputs of which are sequentially sampled and displayed as a series of dots or lines on a conventional CRO, giving an instantaneous display of beam flatness variations. The device is used routinely for checking the beam flatness of our Linacs. The device involves no new principles, but represents a radical change in approach to the checking of Linac beam uniformity.
