Localization within the amygdaloid complex of anesthetized animals

Abstract
The corticomedial division of the amygdaloid complex appears to be the area concerned with regulation of autonomic responses. Blood pressure and respiratory responses from the amygdaloid are mediated through the ventro-medial nucleus of the hypothalamus. The basolateral division is concerned with somatic responses. Reactions elicited by stimulation of the complex appear to be a function of this area and are not due to spread of stimulation current to adjacent structures.
