Abstract
A new treatment of the Auger effect using methods made available by modern high-speed digital computers is reported. These results have been used to evaluate the fluorescence yield in the lighter elements A, Kr, and Ag. The results, 0.13, 0.67, and 0.85 respectively, compare very favorably with the best available experimental values. Keywords
