Abstract
Analytical fits to the Hartree curves of 19 neutral atoms are presented. These are in the form of either Wentzel potentials, for lighter elements, or a series of Wentzel-like terms, for heavier elements. Applications to the scattering of electrons by atoms are briefly discussed. Among the principal results is an iteration method which yields expressions, in terms of tabulated integrals, for the radial eigenfunctions for a particle scattered by a Wentzel potential. Keywords
