Abstract
In rats the formation of nerve fibers precedes the development of taste buds by about 10 days. In a regenerating papilla, taste buds will not reform unless nerve fibers are present, although these do not necessarily belong to the original nerve sound. Regeneration thus seems to follow a similar sequence to ontogeny. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
