Intestinal Flagellates of Ambystoma maculatum (Shaw) and Ambystoma tigrinum (Green)

Abstract
Five A. maculatum and 6 A. tigrinum were found to harbor flagellates in the large intestine. Chilomastix caulleryi. Hexamitus batrachorum, Hexamitus sp., Octomitus sp., Tritrichomonas batrachorum, and T. augusta were observed in both spp. of salamanders. Proteromonas longifila and Hexamastix batrachorum were found only in the spotted salamanders, and Karotomorpha swezyi. Retortamonas sp., and Trepomonas sp. only in the tiger salamanders.
