Abstract
Solutions of tryptophan-containing proteins in trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) develop green fluorescence. Studies have been made of the effect of TFA on tryptophan and tryptophan derivatives, and a dihydro-β-carboline has been identified among the fluorescent products. Keywords
