Abstract
Zygosporogenesis in Phycomyces blakesleeanus Burgeff was observed via scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The surface architecture of the initial stages of conjugation up to mature whole and longitudinally cryofractured zygospores was described and illustrated. The development and structure of the fusion wall, gametangial septum, appendages, and the lateral wall layers of the developing zygospore were investigated with the transmission electron microscope. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
