Properties of the 5.256-MeV State inSi29: Evidence for a Rotational Band withKπ=72−

Abstract
The spin of the 5.256-MeV level in Si29 has been determined to be J=92; its mean lifetime has been measured to be τm=(0.95±0.15)×1013 sec. The electromagnetic decay of this state is >90% via cascade radiation through the Jπ=72 state of Si29 at 3.624 MeV, with Eγ=1631.3±0.5 keV; the transition has quadrupole/dipole admixture δ=0.49±0.07. This multipole mixing together with the measured lifetime fix parity π=1 for this state.
