Scale Invariance and the Group Structure of Quasicrystals

Abstract
We define a set of generalized symmetries for quasicrystals and find that this leads naturally to the operators which generate scale transformations ("inflations"). Our methods are applied to 2D fivefold-symmetric patterns, but generalize to other point groups and dimensions.Keywords
