Abstract
The lethal intraperitoneal dose of histamine for adrenalecto-mized rats having homoplastic or autoplastic transplants of adrenal cortical tissue was variable but averaged about 1/2 that for normal rats, and 4 or 5 times that for rats having no cortical tissue. Administration of a cortical extract (eschatin) increased the % of survivors and extended the survival period of the fatal cases, but did not restore normal resistance. Increased susceptibility of the rat to histamine after adrenalectomy evidently depended both on medullary and on cortical lack. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
