Abstract
Numerous epithelial cells in the oxyntic gland area of the stomach of cat and dog appear to store pancreatic-type glucagon, as evidenced by immunohistochemistry and--in the case of the dog--also by radioimmunoanalysis. No glucagon immunoreactive cells are found in the antropyloric mucosa. Disseminated cells in the intestinal mucosa store gut-type glucagon. In all species studied, these cells predominate in ileum and colon. Keywords
