Abstract

The most popular method of analysis in genetic case-control association studies is to compare allele frequencies between cases and controls by using Pearson's chi-square statistic. Sasieni (1) has pointed out that this analysis is appropriate only when Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium holds. Therefore, he recommended using Armitage's trend test (2) instead.
