Lysogenicity in coagulase-negative staphylococci was tested by incubating the strains in the presence of Mitomycin C. Among 173 strains examined, 45 were found to release phage. Twenty-eight of these phages were obtained from 90 strains belonging to Staphylococcus epidermidis biotype 1 (Baird-Parker, 1965).
