Abstract
An awareness of how age and disease affect drug disposition can make prescription for the elderly less risky. As a rule, older patients respond to drug doses that are lower than those customarily prescribed for younger persons. Regular monitoring of clinical responses and, when indicated, plasma drug levels will ensure that the optimum dose is prescribed and taken. Keywords
