Abstract
The author has investigated the enzymatic pattern of Bowman's glands in rabbit olfactory mucosa, using histochemical methods. Oxidation reduction (succinic, isocitric, lactic and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenases, DPN- and TPN-linked diaphorases, cytochrome oxidase) and hydrolytic (acid and alkaline phosphatase, non-specific esterases and lipases) reactions have been studied. The marked positivity of several of these important reactions suggests an active metabolic state of the glands, probably related to specific secretory processes. Keywords
