Porphyrin Precursors in Sulfanilamidopyrimidin Treatment

Abstract
Thirty apparently healthy individuals were treated with 5-methoxi-2-sulfanilamidopyrimidin for five days. The 24-hour urinary excretion of delta-aminolaevulic acid (ALA) and porphobilinogen (PBG) was determined before and after treatment. A significant increase in the urinary ALA excretion and decrease in the PBG excretion was found.
