Abstract
To estimate the dispersion characteristics of polychloroprene latices, two independent methods, electron microscopy and soap sorption, were used. Within the framework of microscopic determination, agreement was demonstrated between the calculation and bromination methods. From the comparison of electron microscopy with sorption, a new value, 48.7 A.2, was assessed for the active surface of the potassium laurate molecule on the surface of latex particles. The dispersion characteristics of 19 latices were used to calculate the conversion factors between different mean particle sizes dependent on their polydispersities. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
