Creating a work environment that supports self-care

Abstract
The article challenges health care institutions to take corporate responsibility in designing an environment that supports health and healing among its own employees. A program called WorkHealth, a comprehensive delivery system encompassing four integrated continuums directed toward individual employees, work teams, the organization as a whole, and the organization's relationship with the community, is described. Particular attention is focused on the health, wellness, and productivity of individuals and teams with recommendations for leaders in creating the environment for this to occur.
