Abstract
In an attempt to determine the rôle of phosphates in tomato culture tomato plants have been analysed for potash, phosphoric acid and nitrogen. In unmanured plants the fruit is of inferior quality but the weight as picked is 2·6 times that of the foliage and stems of the same plants. In manured plants this ratio is 1·6. The relative efficiency of the plants under the two sets of conditions is discussed. Manured plants have a higher ash content than unmanured plants. Keywords
