Abstract
Most equivalent circuit models for synchronous machines have either neglected saturation or used only one saturable reactance which was made a function of one or more machine variables. The approach of this paper is, first, to determine the regions of magnetic saturation and to identify the magnetic flux variable on which each depends. Analytical models are then developed in which each saturable region of the machine is represented by a nonlinear parameter, the value of which is dependent on only one node voltage. Keywords
