Abstract
Chromatographic evidence for the syn-thesis of taurocholic acid by washed microsome preparations of guinea pig liver is presented. The synthesis is completely dependent on the presence of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), taurine, cholic acid and coenzyme A (CoA). The pathway is probably: (1) cholic acid +CoA +ATP [forward arrow] Cholyl - CoA, (2) cholyl - CoA + taurine [forward arrow] taurocholic acid + CoA.Keywords
