Abstract
3-Hydroxy-kynurenine has been determined by a specific quantitative method through a number of larval, pupal and imaginal stages of the Bombyx mori mutant rb. The amount of the substance increases steadily from the spinning larva to the middle of the pupal stage and reaches 1 mg per animal. During the same period the pattern of fluorescent compounds shows significant changes. After injection of tritiated 3-hydroxy-kynurenine several fluorescent compounds are labelled. One compound, which appears after cocoon spinning, has been shown to be the O-β-glucoside of 3-hydroxy-kynurenine, and its structure confirmed by synthesis.
