Abstract
An apparatus is described for making thermophysical measurements on liquid metals up to 0.4 GPa and 8000 K. Metal samples are resistively heated on a submillisecond time scale along an isobar. Techniques for measuring enthalpy, specific volume, electrical resistivity, and temperature are discussed with a critical evaluation of the accuracy and limitations of each measurement. Keywords
