CPW-fed oscillating microstrip antennas

Abstract
Medium power oscillating microstrip antennas working at 4 GHz are built with a low-cost GaAs MESFET. Two CPW-fed slot shapes are used for the microstrip patch antenna excitation, a straight loop and a slot loop, leading to 30 and 26 mW radiated power, respectively. The slot loop is shown to provide an easy-to-bias solution to the feeding of active radiating elements.
