Distribution of Parainfluenza Antibodies in Different Groups of Population

Abstract
A study of parainfluenza antibodies in different population groups from the U. S. A., Italy and India, has shown that parainfluenza type 3 antibody is the most widely distributed among the three different populations, followed by type 1 and type 2. Evidence has been presented that the frequency of each parainfluenza antibody is similar in all three populations. All subjects with neutralizing antibodies also possessed the hemagglutination-inhibiting antibody, whereas the contrary was not always observed. No correlation was found between the presence of hemadsorption type 2 and Sendai antibody in individual sera.
