Abstract
By relating effective alveolar ventilation to arterial blood CO2 tension and pH when changes were induced by CO2 inhalation, the sensitivity of the respiratory neural regulatory mechanism to this chemical stimulus was determined in 3 normal subjects before and after salicylate ingestion. With blood salicylate levels of 12 to 16 mg %, respiratory sensitivity to the CO2-pH stimulus increased 84-307%.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
