Bringing worlds together

Abstract
In a cooperative, virtual organisation teams of users can be formed at will. They can share and interact with abstract artifacts and com- municate with each other through these artifacts. In such a world users can be aware of each others activities, interact with shared objects and have their own 3D representation (or embodiment). The goal of this paper is to show how multiple users can be sup- ported using an architecture based on VRML and HTTP. We describe how VRML can be extended and supported with extended clients and servers to provide mechanisms for awareness, embodi- ment, consistency and access control.
