Abstract
A method is described for the observation of electron spin resonance spectra from transient free radicals that are formed photolytically by the use of a pulsed ultraviolet laser. A fast response esr spectrometer system enables measurements to be made to within 1 μs of the photolysis flash. Alternative methods of operation are described which yield either a complete time profile of the esr spectrum, or a more rapidly obtained spectrum at a single predetermined time after the photolytic flash. Keywords
