The Measurement of Small Alternating Voltages at Audiofrequencies

Abstract
The origin of noise in vacuum tube amplifiers is discussed. An amplifier is described which can be used for the measurement of low voltages. A type 38 tube operated below ionizing voltages of the gas in the tube is found to have a low noise level. 10−8 volt can be measured in the audiofrequency range.
