Abstract
In the routine study of patients with suspected intracranial disease, roentgenologic examination of the head is now generally recognized as an important and valuable aid to diagnosis. Among the various roentgen manifestations of intracranial disease, the changes encountered in the sella turcica are unquestionably the most significant. Alterations in this structure are among the most frequent abnormalities of the skull to be seen on the roentgenogram. It is for this reason that a thorough knowledge of the roentgenology of the sella turcica is essential for the proper interpretation of roentgenograms of the head. It is needless to say that one must be thoroughly familiar with the appearance of the normal sella and be able to recognize its many normal variations before one can judge of the abnormal.
