Abstract
The existing traditional group key management protocols with pure cluster or tree architecture are not so effective in mobile ad hoc network (MANET) for the mobility of the users. According to the dynamic topology of MANET, the communication and computation overhead in frequent key updating are real challenges to the power and ability constrained devices. To improve the key updating protocol for the multicast in MANET, a novel key management scheme CTCKM is proposed in this paper with a composite architecture. It exploits the LKT algorithm without a fixed center or server to adapt to the mobile ad hoc scenery. The cluster algorithm used in the scheme reduces the tree rebalance burden. The analysis shows that the CTCKM is adapt to the mobile circumstances such as vehicle dispatching system, and can provide security service with low communication and computation overheadKeywords
