Excretion of Alcohol in the Urine as a Guide to Alcoholic Intoxication

Abstract
Under the conditions recorded, the concentration of alcohol in the urine was proportional to that of the blood, the ratio urine alcohol blood alcohol being fairly constant, and little affected by diuresis or by factors tending to diminish the rate of alcohol absorption in the body. This ration calculated from tests made 1 hr. after drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is about 1.35. By estimation of urinary alcohol, the concentration of alcohol in the blood may be deduced, and thence the degree of alcoholic intoxication.
