Abstract
A new bitter secoiridoid glucoside, centapicrin, C25H28O12, melting point 234-237.degree. was isolated from the herb of E. centaurium (Gentianaceae), together with 2 known glucosides, swertiamarin and sweroside. The structure of centapicrin was established as 2''-(m-hydroxy)benzoyl-3''-acetylswaroside from spectral and chemical evidence.
