Photosynthetic Reactions by Chloroplast Fragments of Chlamydomonas reinhardi

Abstract
A method has been developed for measuring photosynthetic phosphorylation with chloroplast fragments of C. reinhardi. Activity has been detected in the presence of the cofactors phenazine methosulfate and a combination of menadione and riboflavin-5[image]-phosphate. Phosphorylation coupled to the reduction of triphosphopyridine nucleotide proceeded according to the stoichiometry of 1 ATP/1 TPNH. The reduction of potassium ferricyanide was not accompanied by ATP formation.
