In Evanston Ill. a sample of 11,036 children examined at 6-8 years of age revealed the following distribution: Normal, 69%; Class-I malocclusion, 19%; Class-II, 11%; Class-III, 1%. The 12-14 year sample of 14,951 children yielded the following: Normal, 54%; Class-I malocclusion, 30%; Class-II, 14%; Class-III, 1%. In the sample of 765 4 children examined at both age stages, 27% of those classified as normal at the first examination developed Class-I malocclusion at the second, while 43% of those listed as Class-I malocclusion at first were normal at 12-14.
