CARDIOPULMONARY PHYSIOLOGY IN A CASE OF PULMONARY ALVEOLAR PROTEINOSIS

Abstract
An additional case of this new syndrome first reported by Rosen et al. (New England J. of Med. 258 1123, 1958) is presented. Extensive pulmonary function studies, including right heart catheterization, demonstrate that this disease can produce the alveolar-capillary block syndrome with decreased gaseous diffusion across the alveolar-capillary membrane. Treatment with steroid hormones late in the course of the disease failed to cause its regression.
