Abstract
The effect of xylocaine on epileptic attacks suggested a study of its effect in attacks of Meniere's disease, as the symptoms can be very much alike in the two conditions. The results were found to be excellent, especially as regards the vegetative dysfunctions. In attacks of Meniere's disease the tinnitus disappeared for 20 minutes, vomiting generally disappeared for good and nausea for an hour or two. Nystagmus was unaffected.
