Abstract
200 males, 14 to 43 years of age, were surveyed for the occurrence of mumps, orchitis, and testicular atrophy. 54.3% reported having had mumps, and 80% of these had had the infection prior to the 15th yr. Orchitis had occurred in 19% of mumps cases after 13 yrs. but in only 5% of all mumps in this series. Testicular atrophy had ensued in 36% of cases of orchitis. This was right-sided in 50%, left-sided in 40%, and bilateral in 10%.Keywords
